Acne scar treatments
When it comes to skincare, we know there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. That’s why we offer a variety of treatments to reduce and smooth the appearance of acne scarring. Our experienced team provides personalized advice during your consultation. The approaches we offer include:
Chemical peels
Chemical peels are facial treatments that use alpha-hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, retinol, trichloroacetic acid, and other ingredients to exfoliate your skin deeply. Chemical peels cause the top layers of old, dead skin to peel away and reveal your fresh new skin underneath. As your skin peels away, imperfections such as mild acne scarring fade.
Laser skin resurfacing
We offer several types of skin resurfacing treatments to reduce the appearance of your acne scars, including:
- ProFractional™ Therapy
- NanoLaserPeel™
- MicroLaserPeel®
- ContourTRL™
The lasers work in slightly different ways. For example, fractional resurfacing exfoliates the top layers of your skin, causing a dramatic peel to remove old, damaged skin that also smooths and fades your scars.
Other types of laser resurfacing combine the deep exfoliation with heat-triggered collagen production. These laser treatments attack acne scars from the surface as well as within your skin.
Combination laser therapy
Combination laser therapy incorporates different types of lasers and wavelengths of light energy to address acne scarring. An added benefit is that combination laser therapy can also diminish the appearance of other skin imperfections. For example, if acne scars are just one of your skin concerns, combination laser therapy might be right for you.
Dermal fillers
While you might think dermal fillers only work to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and collagen loss, we also use dermal fillers to raise depressed acne scars. Dermal fillers work to smooth and plump your scars, providing a more healthy, youthful appearance.
Which acne scar treatment is right for me?
We offer customized skincare consultations to assess your skin and identify the best treatments to give you the beautiful complexion you’ve always wanted. Some of the factors we consider include:
- Whether you still have acne
- Inflammation in your skin
- What medications you take
- The general condition of your skin
- Other skin concerns (discoloration, wrinkles, rosacea)
Based on your needs, we suggest the treatment that can best improve the appearance, texture, and condition of your skin. In most cases, you need a series of appointments to achieve your desired results.
Depending on your treatment, you may need to stop taking acne medication such as Accutane® or reduce your dose while you have the procedures. We provide personalized advice on how to prepare for your acne scarring treatment as well as aftercare instructions to protect your skin.
