Are you a teen or adult suffering from constant, severe outbreaks of acne? Is the appearance of your skin making you look and feel unclean, or unbecoming? Is this condition damaging your confidence and self-esteem?
You may be a good candidate for BBL™ acne treatment. Laser therapy can bring you hope if you’re struggling to control active acne or suffering the effects of acne scarring.
BBL™ to Treat Active Acne
BBL™ provides relief from this common skin irregularity and restores self-confidence and self-esteem for many.
Acne—especially adult acne—is way more common than you may think. It affects nearly everyone to some degree throughout life, including:
- At least 90% of all adolescents
- Nearly 50% of all adult women
- Estimated 25% of all adults
Acne is a skin disorder that results from the action of hormones and other substances on the skin's oil glands, sebaceous glands, and hair follicles. Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) are the anaerobic bacterium that cause acne. Severe acne can lead to permanent scarring.
According to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, people of all races and ages get acne. It’s often brought on in adulthood—especially women—due to the impact of hormonal changes. These changes occur as a result of pregnancy, added life stress, and the fluctuating hormone balances characteristic of peri-menopause.
How Do I Prepare Before BBL™ Acne Treatment?
Prepare to have the best acne laser therapy results by reviewing the things to do before treatment. At your consultation, it’s really important to communicate your usage of prescription medication to treat active acne. To avoid unexpected skin reactions, you must refrain from using these medications for a certain period of time prior to any laser treatment.

When Are Results From Laser Acne Seen?
- Clinical studies suggest that at least 2 BBL™ acne treatments are needed to begin to see results.
- A marked difference in the condition of your acne generally appears after the third treatment. Most patients experience about a 70% improvement.
- Results have been reported to last up to 6 months.
- Typically, we recommend a series of 6 sessions with 2 sessions during the first week, followed by 2-week treatment intervals. Most patients experience 90% improvement of their acne after their sixth session.
Laser Resurfacing to Diminish Acne Scars
If you desire more dramatic improvement in the quality and appearance of your acne scars, we recommend laser resurfacing and remodeling using ProFractional-XC™ or Contour TRL™. See Laser FAQs for a more in-depth description of the various types of acne scarring. The specific nature of your scars determines the most appropriate laser treatment method.
The wound-healing process triggered by these resurfacing and remodeling techniques produces fibroblasts that generate new collagen. This reaction plumps your skin in the scarred and pitted areas, thus smoothing your skin's imperfections.
Some patients suffer from both severe active acne on the surface as well as deep acne scarring underneath. In this case, your best option is likely a custom-tailored treatment plan comprised of BBL™ therapy combined with Pro-Fractional™ therapy. Read on to discover how resurfacing and remodeling laser therapy addresses acne scars.
