Though the Fountain of Youth may exist only in legends, new science is uncovering ways to turn back the hands of time in aging skin, promoting healthy new growth on a cellular level.
Here at Aesthetic Surgery Center, we offer a number of highly effective tools that refresh and rejuvenate your skin, and we’re excited about the results of our Sciton BBL Forever Young laser treatments. As time marches on
When it comes to aging skin, you face an uphill battle against some powerful forces. First, your skin, especially the skin on your face, has undergone years of exposure to the elements, which inevitably take their toll in the form of scarring, blemishes, and facial veins that mark the passage of time.
Second, as you age, your production of collagen and elastin, which are the structural proteins responsible for your skin’s support, begins to ebb. This slow decline is perfectly natural, and both men and women experience the loss, though it may be more pronounced in women, especially as they pass through menopause.
Lastly, the small amount of fat underneath your skin begins to migrate without firm skin to hold it in place, leaving you with hollowed cheeks and sagging jowls.
Taken all together, you can see why it’s almost impossible to fight back. Almost.
Fighting back
Since your skin is succumbing to forces of nature, it makes sense to fight back with a similar weapon. Michael R. Macdonald, MD, researched the many products and treatments on the market that claim to turn back time and erase the past, but found that most were insufficient in the face of these powerful factors. When he came upon the Sciton BBL Forever Young system, however, he quickly understood that the best way to fight back was to tap some of these same forces for your benefit.
BBL stands for broadband light, which is a powerful light energy that goes beneath your skin, without harming the surface area, to promote skin cell renewal. The photothermal energy clears away old and tired skin cells and reverses the gene expression patterns of aging skin. Ultimately, this structural and molecular change improves your skin in a way that is completely natural. On top of this change, the energy also signals your body to increase its production of collagen and elastin to support the new skin cells, giving you firmer, more evenly toned skin that harkens back to the face of your youth.
Targeted therapy
One of the greatest benefits of the BBL system is our ability to precisely and accurately target several different problems areas in your skin. The Forever Young BBL™ features separate filters, each of which addresses a specific issue. To start, Dr. Macdonald uses special filters to target unwanted pigment (melanin) and redness, which does wonders for promoting a more even, natural tone in your skin. Next we can use the Wrinklelite™ filter to stimulate new collagen and elastin production and/or the SkinTyte™ filter to address sagging skin.
After a series of short treatments (usually three to five to start), we’re able to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, erase sun damage, eliminate facial veins, and promote the growth of healthy new skin cells that give you a more vibrant appearance that’s more in line with your youthful spirit.
Once we achieve your desired results, you will benefit from maintenance treatments every six months or so. The treatments themselves are noninvasive, which means you’re free to go about your day immediately afterward. We should mention that the fall months are a great time to begin your treatments so you can head into winter building up essential collagen.
Though it may not turn back time, our BBL Forever Young treatments can certainly reduce or eliminate the evidence left behind by the passing years. Please call us to learn more, or fill out the online form to request a consultation.
